GeneSight is a genetic test that uses your genetic information to provide medication options for your child’s provider. It is a simple cheek swab that is done in our office and then sent out for the results.
The test may reveal which medications:
- May be less likely to work
- May need dose adjustments
- Have an increased risk of side effects based on your DNA.
The results come in a report that classifies over 60 mental health medications into four categories.
Once we get the results, a notification will be sent to you that they are ready. Once you get the notification, please call the office and we will schedule an extended visit with your child’s provider to go over them.
There is a consent form that you need to sign prior to doing the test: Genesight Consent Form.
The cost of the test will be billed to your insurance company, and depending on your insurance, you may be expected to pay a portion of the cost. Typically, patients will pay $330 or less.
